Fees and Funding
Free Education for Early Years at Kettlesing Pre-School
Children who are aged 3 or 4 years are entitled to 570 hours of free early education or childcare per year, usually this is taken as 15 hours a week for 38 weeks of the year. Your child becomes eligible for this funding from the term following their 3rd birthday, up until compulsory school age (the term after their fifth birthday). The maximum entitlement in any one day is 10 hours.
If you wish your child to attend for more than 15 hours per week, you simply pay the extra hours.
As parents you can choose to take this free entitlement over two providers and, each term, you will be asked how you wish to take your 15 hours.
Free Education for 2 year olds
There is also free funding for 2 year olds who are eligible. They too have an entitlement of 570 hours of free early education or childcare over 15 hours each week during term time. However, this has to be used in one setting only.
Your child can access this funding in the first term after they turn two until the term following their third birthday, when they will be able to take the free education for 3 and 4 year olds.
Eligibility for 2-year-olds
Your 2-year-old will be eligible if they are:
- A looked after child
- A child with an Educational Health Care Plan

The first 15 hours a week are free to those children who are eligible.
